Donate for International Development Aid

Planet Aid is a non-profit charity that utilizes your clothing donations to meet our objectives of protecting the environment and providing international development aid.

In 2009 Planet Aid was able to collect and recycle 100 million pounds of used clothing. Recycled items provide affordable clothing to needy people in developing nations. Textile recycling also helps the environment by lessening the need to produce new clothes. Considering the environmental costs of producing new clothing, Planet Aid saved 72 billion gallons of water, 30 million pounds of fertilizer and 20 million pounds of pesticides through our textile recycling program during 2009.

In addition to being environmentally-friendly, proceeds from the sale of donated clothes help us fund programs serving the people of Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and Asia:

  • Community development programs that improve the standard of living for families in impoverished areas through a holistic, community-based approach with a focus on education and healthcare.
  • Health programs with a focus on giving HIV/AIDS affected communities the knowledge and tools necessary to take control of the epidemic.
  • Agricultural development programs that provide training to small-scale farmers to create food security and income for their families.
  • Vocational schools that provide education and training to undereducated youth, allowing them to work and contribute to their communities.
  • Teacher training programs that produce qualified and compassionate primary school teachers for rural areas of the developing world.

Your donations help Planet Aid to support Humana People to People international development aid organizations in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Every day we are able to improve the lives of impoverished people all over the world through the various programs we support.

How and Where to Donate Clothes

Planet Aid accepts gently used, unsoiled, and functional clothing and shoes donations. Please wash and fold the clothes before you place them in a plastic bag and drop them off at a clothing donation bin. Also, please do not leave items outside the clothing donation box.

Planet Aid has many conveniently located clothing drop off locations in the form of labeled clothing bins. Planet Aid has more than 11,000 clothing drop off boxes in the U.S. to which you can bring your clothes and shoes. This makes it very easy to donate your clothes as all you have to do is to drop them off at the nearest clothing drop off bin. Below is a list of states, cities, and metropolitan areas in the U.S. which have donation bins near you.

Click here to enter your ZIP Code and find a clothing donation bin near you.

Your tax-deductible donations are sold to clothes recyclers for delivery to third-world nations, some are sold as wiping clothes used in factories, and others are converted back to fiber and remade as recycled textile products.
