Planet Aid's Food for Knowledge project, a joint partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture, is approaching the halfway point of its 3.5-year run. The project provides daily school meals to children in the Maputo province of Mozambique while improving the quality of the region's educational foundation through teacher training, school gardens, and school facility renovation.
To date, 55,744 children have been benefiting from a daily lunch, with over 932,320 total meals served. The Planet Aid-supported teacher training college has graduated approximately 1,050 skilled teachers to work in rural areas of the country, with another 1,831 future teachers currently in training. The project has also built or rehabilitated the kitchens and storerooms of 175 schools.
