Videos Highlight Higher Education Projects in Mozambique
Planet Aid has produced two videos about students at One World University (OWU) in Mozambique. This institution is dedicated to creating agents of change that will aid in the development of their country through innovative teaching and community mobilization. Planet Aid helps support OWU with the clothing donations dropped in its yellow bins throughout 18 states in the U.S.
The Pedagogy course trains students to be effective teachers and community mobilizers. Graduates are prepared to teach at the primary and secondary levels, or to train other future teachers. The curriculum differs from many traditional courses in Mozambique in that it encourages self-motivation, innovative thinking, and independence. Hear what four current students have to say about the program and the importance of education in a developing country like Mozambique.
The Community Development course was the second program created at One World University. Students learn practical knowledge and skills in the classroom, and then go out into neighboring rural communities to apply what they've learned. This course is designed to shape new leaders in the fight against poverty. Watch current Community Development students speak about their experiences so far.
