Planet Aid Thrift Center Manager Cedric Horton joined the store at the end of April, he comes with over 20 years of management experience and over 15 years of experience in the thrift store industry. Before relocating to Maryland, Cedric lived in Arkansas and Georgia.
If you visited the store since Cedric has taken over, you may have noticed quite a few changes. For example, the clothing sections are now organized by color instead of sizes. The pricing has also changed from a variance to a price point system, in which all items of the same kind are essentially priced the same.
"I wanted to offer the customers a better value, a consistent value throughout...I wanted to get more product[s] out on the floor for the customers to choose from, Cedric said about the new price points. "With the colorization of it, it's more efficient for us to get the stuff out on the floor at a faster pace. Once you get into sizing —it takes a lot of manpower to keep the sizing up —especially [with] the size of this store. We decided to go with a different route as far as doing things by price points to get the customers better value."
Cedric added he wants the community to know the Thrift Center is there to serve them, whether for affordable shopping needs or to drop-off items to donate.
The Planet Aid Thrift Center is our first large retail store, that provides the local community with a source of affordable, stylish clothing. The store sells men's, women's, and children's clothing and shoes, as well as jewelry, accessories, home decor, toys, movies, books, and games. Proceeds help fund sustainable development projects in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Store hours are Monday through Saturday 8AM to 8PM and Sunday 11AM to 6PM.
