We Can End TB Through Innovative Community-Led Approaches
Four members of the Federation Humana People to People are participating and presenting at The Union World Conference on Lung Health 2024 in Bali, Indonesia from 12 - 16 November 2024. The major spotlight is on Tuberculosis (TB), a global pandemic, that kills someone every 20 seconds.
A combined nine presentations are being made by delegates from: Humana People to People India, ADPP Mozambique, DAPP Malawi, and DAPP Zambia.
Over the past 15 years, members of Humana People to People have implemented TB projects impacting over 18.5 million people. We have built community-based networks of passionate local volunteers who are at the center of bringing TB services to the people at the community level.
Currently, 13 members of Humana People to People are implementing TB projects in Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea Bissau, India, Laos, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
At the TB conference in Bali, we are sharing our best practices and the impact of our community-based TB prevention programs that have saved lives for millions of people in Africa and India. Our capacity to learn and adapt has been essential in meeting emerging TB needs. We are proud of the TB impact we have achieved across diverse communities, countries, and continents.
Humana People to People India is presenting on TB prevention impact among homeless people in metropolitan cities and DAPP Malawi will showcase how community-based TB contact tracing is efficiently finding people who are yet to be identified as TB cases in Malawi. ADPP Mozambique will share the success of an innovative rights-based approach in coming up with solutions to the challenge of TB in Mozambique. The TB project is centered on community-led monitoring and uses actionable data to break down barriers in the desire to provide better services for people with TB. Further, DAPP Zambia will present the effectiveness of TB case finding among children in Lusaka, Zambia.
We invite you to watch a documentary film showcasing how our member DAPP Malawi program is finding active cases of TB within highly affected communities of Malawi.
