Planet Aid's Donation Center in Newport, Rhode Island collected 20,000 pounds of donated items on November 15 as part of a celebration for America Recycles Day. The center also used the occasion to mark the launch of its new curbside pickup service.
"We are very excited to launch our new curbside pick-up service in Newport," said Planet Aid Operations Manager, Keith Gregory. "Our Newport Donation Center has only been open for a few months, but we've already been able to collect nearly a half million pounds of donated material!"
Residents within a 10-mile radius of the Donation Center can schedule a pickup by emailing the organization at curbside@planetaid.org.
Dolores Bauer and Jesse from local radio station MIXX 99.3 were on hand to help promote the event in the community. Complimentary food and beverages were provided by A-1 Pizza and Corner Bakery Cafe.
Thank you to everyone in the area who helped recycle items that might otherwise end up in the landfill. Check out photos of the event below.
