Planet Aid teamed up with the Zeta Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) for the Annual "Spring Kleaning" fundraiser. The multi-location event took place on Earth Day weekend in Akron, Ohio.
The sorority collected more than 3,400 pounds of donations in a few short hours.
With Planet Aid bins spread across the Akron area, supporters of the event conveniently dropped off clothing, shoes, eyeglasses, and household items. The Spring Kleaning event boasted an impressive turnout of sorority members and residents, demonstrating the strong community spirit in Akron.
Proceeds raised from the event will support the AKA chapter associated with the University of Akron. This is one of many community service initiatives of AKA, who has served the area for almost 70 years.
